About East Coast Psychotherapy & Trauma Clinic
Beth Toomey MSW, RSW
Clinical Director & Founder
"I saw a disconnect between what large system providers thought was helpful and what clients experienced as healing."
Mental health care is too often marked by long waiting times and an endless cycle of case transfers. You tell your story to a new person, then tell it again six months later. By the third time, you stop wanting to tell it at all. People end up feeling lost and unsupported, right when they can least afford to be.
After many years working within larger health-care systems, Beth, our founder, recognized that meaningful psychotherapy isn’t always compatible with time-limited models of care. Treatment gets shaped by organizational pressure rather than by the needs of the person seeking help.
So in 2013, she established her private practice, focused on care that’s safe, timely, and effective.
The name East Coast Psychotherapy & Trauma Clinic was chosen because it reflects the vision behind the practice. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Who you are and the struggles you’ve faced are as unique as the DNA you carry. Many services in our region focus on being trauma-informed, and we built ours to go further into specialized trauma resolution work. Our clients move beyond understanding the impact of trauma and into lasting healing and recovery.
Our hope is that people leave here with more than symptom relief. We want them to trust themselves again, to understand what they’ve lived through without being defined by it, and to build healthier relationships with themselves and the people around them. Everything we do comes back to one belief: psychotherapy should be shaped by the needs of the individual, not by arbitrary limits on the length of treatment.
When you’re ready to start your journey towards positive change, we’re ready to guide you every step of the way.
