Hiring Clinical (Specialist) Social Worker/ Counselling Therapist/ Psychotherapist - Children & Adolescents
East Coast Psychotherapy & Trauma Clinic
Summary of Position
We are seeking a clinician who can provide clinical assessments and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. Knowledge of developmental and attachment theory, and experience addressing attachment trauma in clinical practice, is valued.
The majority of client-facing work will take place in person at our North Sydney / Sydney office, however there is flexibility to offer remote sessions on an as needed basis. Team collaboration and meetings are largely conducted remotely, allowing for meaningful connection while maintaining flexibility.
We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic, and adaptable clinician who values autonomy, is self-reliant in practice, and who is excited to grow and evolve alongside our expanding clinic — all while contributing positively to our collaborative, team-based environment.
Who You Are and What You Can Expect:
- An experienced and confident clinician in your trauma-focused practice and are skilled at developing and implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and adjusting interventions as needed.
- Able to provide individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and their families using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate treatment approaches.
- A team player who values a collegial environment and contributes to a positive workplace culture.
- A lifelong learner, committed to maintaining high standards of care and staying current in your field.
- Someone who is enthusiastic, dynamic, and adaptable — eager to grow with a practice that is expanding and evolving.
- Someone who appreciates the balance of autonomy and team support in your professional life.
- Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Clinical Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or equivalent.
- Registration and good standing with the appropriate regulatory body in Nova Scotia.
- Possession of appropriate professional liability insurance.
- Experience providing psychotherapy and assessments in a clinical setting.
- Training in trauma-focused modalities (e.g., EMDR Therapy, play therapy, attachmentbased therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT/DBT, etc.).
- Self-directed in practice and collaborative by nature.
What We Offer:
- A contract-based position, offering the independence of private practice with the benefits of a team.
- A positive and collegial team culture where you’re respected and supported.
- The autonomy to practice independently, while having access to the Clinical Director and colleagues for consultation when needed.
- A comprehensive intake system that ensures appropriate client matches.
- A well-run, organized clinic environment, free of administrative burdens.
- Flexible and supportive scheduling, with the opportunity to craft a schedule that suits your needs while meeting strong client demand during evenings and some weekends.
- A Continuing Education Support Program, which includes an annual learning budget, financing options, and discounted registration fees with trauma-focused training programs to support your professional development.
- Regular team consultation groups and meetings, designed to foster connection, shared learning, and professional enrichment.
- Mentor pairings during orientation, to help you feel welcomed, supported, and set up for success as you join our team.
- A comfort station stocked with beverages, treats, and snacks — because we know even the most seasoned clinicians deserve a little pick-me-up during the day. Whether you need a moment of calm or a sweet little boost between sessions, we’ve got you covered.
- A culture that supports your ongoing professional development — and a forward-looking vision of growth you can be part of.
